In the Earth (2021) [บรรยายไทยแปล]

To offer some balanced discussions on this film, let's start off by criticizing the way the film was marketed as a horror thriller when it is a more meditative, atmospheric, and ultimately unique modern adventure, for what is essentially a pandemic inspired, slow burner thriller with elements of folklore horror thrown in for good measure.  Now, hopefully that makes it clearer as to what type of film it is. So, how is it? It's definitely quite a visual, auditory experience with competent and decent performances from the small cast at play here.  The characters are thinly developed but the lead character and his history with the Doctor he is traveling to see, does provide motivation and focus on what is causing a ruckus in the forest.  This is also to provide an explanation and understanding that not everyone is going to click with this film and the divisiveness of it, is very much present on many of the review aggregate sites. It definitely does feel different from most horror films these days (compliments to the alien, industrialized score from Clint Mansell) and while it doesn't provide the traditional thrills and scares, it does feel more like a existential journey akin to another film that felt this way but more identifiable in tone and character, Mandy.   So, check it out but look into the film beyond the trailers and see if you want to give it a go.
