The Rookies ทีมเฟี้ยวตัดเหลี่ยมคน (2019) [ พากย์ไทย]

If you've seen the American trailer for The Rookies, you might get the impression that it's the latest action-packed Paul W.S. Anderson film starring Milla Jovovich. But in reality, this is a Chinese film to which Jovovich lends her star power. This might help with marketing, but Jovovich's participation is limited. Instead, the film follows the misadventures of extreme sports practitioner Zhao Feng (Talu Wang) and recently demoted Interpol agent Miao Yan (Sandrine Pinna), who inadvertently become international spies who must save the world from a terrorist. While the outline of the story sounds promising, in practice, the film is deeply stupid, bouncing between action, broad humor and supposedly moving moments at a whiplash pace that prevents any of them from landing. On top of that, there are multiple moments revolving around sexual harassment and mental health that have the potential to rub viewers the wrong way.






 

The Rookies gets started when Zhao's latest daredevil stunt goes awry and he ends up in the middle of an illegal trade deal just before it's broken up by Bruce (Jovovich), a Special Agent with an organization called the Order of the Phantom Knighthood. Soon afterward, Bruce recruits Zhao because the criminals now believe he's part of the deal and she needs him to act as a middleman in Budapest.
